Alcohol: 5.4% v/v (4.2% w/w)
Water: bottled water was utilized.
Grain: 6 oz. German Vienna
6 oz. German Munich
6 oz. British crystal 70-80L
Steep: Steeped the grain in a grain bag at 150° F for 30 minutes.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.189 1.5 gallons
6 lb. Light malt extract
1 lb. Light dry malt extract
Added 1 tsp of Irish moss to the boil at 45 mins.
Hops: 3 oz. Hallertauer Domestic (5.4% AA, 60 min.)
3 oz. Saaz Domestic (5.4% AA, 60 min.)
3 oz. Saaz Domestic (5.4% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: Pitched White Labs WLP005-British Ale yeast in a 22 oz. yeast starter
after the wort cooled to room temp. First evidence of activity
did not appear for over 30 hours. That's typical for the WLP005 strain
but not for most ale yeasts strains using a starter.
