Biere Forte

A beautiful strong beer. I bottled some in wine bottles for a special occasion.

Beer: Biere Forte Style: Belgian Dubbel
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 15 liters
Color:
25 HCU (~13 SRM)
Bitterness: 33 IBU
OG: 1.092 FG: 1.015
Alcohol: 9.9% v/v (7.8% w/w)
Water: Christchurch tap water, its very soft.
Grain: 250g Wheat malt
100g German Vienna
250g German Munich
50g British chocolate
Steep: steep grain at 65° for 45mins
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.115 12 liters
3kg Light malt extract
950g Belgian candi sugar
Hops: 30g NZ BSaaz (8.6% AA, 60 min.)
20g NZ Styrian Goldings (5.5% AA, 30 min.)
5g NZ Styrian Goldings (5.5% AA, 5 min.)
Yeast: Safale dried yeast
Muntons dried yeast in secondary
Log: primary 7 days
secondary 14 days
Carbonation: 1 teaspoon of cane sugar per bottle
Tasting: A great beer, with a good balance between hops and malt. The mouth feel is great. Next time I would decrease the bitterness also as the hop flavour sticks out slightly.
