Far West Irish Red Ale

| Steep: | Prior to steeping grains, toast .5 # whole uncrushed malt(3° L) in the oven @350° F for 10 min. Remove from oven and crush/crack malt, then add to 1# of 40° L crushed crystal malt. Add malts to brewpot w/ 1.5 gallons water. Bring up temp to 154° F, let steep for 30 min, strain, sparge. |

| Bring 6.5 gallons(including steeped grain extraction) to boil add extract, Northern Brewers hops.Boil 58 minutes , add Tettnanger hops. At 60 min flameout. Chill (on occasion I add 2.5# local Clover honey to boil at 50 mins into boil, which kicks up O.G. nicely and adds a lovely flavor to finished beer, warning extremely tasty! 8)~ ) |
