Amblyopic Amber Ale
I wanted to try my hand at a "standard" beer to always
have around, when I don't feel like drinking anything
fancy.

| Beer: | Amblyopic Amber Ale | Style: | American Amber Ale | |||||
| Type: | Extract w/grain | Size: | 5.5 gallons | |||||

|

| OG: | 1.053 | FG: | 1.013 | |||||
| Alcohol: | 5.1% v/v (4.0% w/w) | |||||||
| Water: | Overall, used 2.0 gallons charcoal filtered tap water, and about 3 gallons or so spring water. |
|||||||
| Grain: | 1.0 lb. American crystal 40L 0.5 lb. Dextrine malt (Cara-Pils) |
|||||||

|||||||

| 6.0 lb. Amber dry malt extract | ||||||||
| I don't use clarifiers. Secondary fermentation and cold conditioning does the job just fine. |
||||||||
| Hops: | 1.00 oz. Northern Brewer (7.6% AA, 60 min.) 0.50 oz. Tettnanger (4.5% AA, 15 min.) 0.50 oz. Cascade (6.8% AA, 3 min.) |
|||||||
| Yeast: | Cooper's Dry 7g. Made starter for the heck of it. | |||||||
| Log: | Brewed November 5, 2004 Bottling date - November 19 |
|||||||
| Carbonation: | 1 cup of corn sugar. | |||||||
| Tasting: | After 3 weeks in the bottle, beer has nice flavor. Easy drinking with a rich flavor, not too hoppy. The color shown above is too dark, it's more of an orange color, not brown. I'm going to try Crystal 60 next time for steeping. |
