Smooth Wheat

I have brewed the basic wheat beer a few times now.
I wanted something different.
A little different - just to change the recipe.
What I got was an enjoyable wheat beer.

Brewer: ChuckO Email: -
Beer: Smooth Wheat Style: American Wheat
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 3.0 gallons
Color:
4 HCU (~4 SRM)
Bitterness: 49 IBU
OG: 1.028 FG: -
Alcohol: -
Water: Used carbon filtered water.
Grain: 5 lb. Wheat malt
8 oz. Flaked oats
Steep: Brought oats up to 165 ° and let boil an extra 5 minutes. Removed
and added malt.
Boil: 45 minutes SG 1.033 2.5 gallons
None
Hops: 1.5 oz. Tettnanger (4.5% AA, 45 min.)
.5 oz. Tettnanger (4.5% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: Coopers - re-hydrated the yeast prior to pitching.
1 pint of boiled water brought down to 80° with a 1 tsp. corn sugar dissolved in it.
Added yeast and covered with plastic wrap. set aside for 30-45 minutes in warm spot.
Log: Racked to secondary 7 days afterwards.
Bottled seven days later
Carbonation: Simple carbonation method -
2/3 cup corn sugar to one pint of water added at bottling.
Tasting: Adding the oats and letting them seep for a while in the water before bringing
to a boil. Might try some different yeast.
