Color:
12 HCU (~8 SRM)
Bitterness: 32 IBU
OG: 1.055 FG: 1.014
Alcohol: 5.3% v/v (4.2% w/w)
Grain: 8 oz. American crystal 40L
Steep: Place crushed grain in a muslin bag and soak in brew water while heating it up. Remove when water is 150°-160°. It will begin to steam at that point. Rinse bag into brewpot with the hottest water you can stand to get all the good stuff out. Discard grain.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.092 3 gallons
6 lb. Light dry malt extract
Bring wort to boil and add DME (scrape what sticks in the bag out) and bring back to boil. Once boil is stablized add 3/4 oz bittering hops in a muslin bag and note time. After 45 minutes add 1/4 oz bittering hops and 1 oz flavor hops in muslin bag. Add 1T irish moss directly into pot. Boil 15 more minutes and you are finished boiling. Make sure your boil is not too high, it needs to be high enough to turn over your wort but not too high as to carmelize the sugars.
Hops: .75 oz. Chinook (12% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 15 min.)
.25 oz. Chinook (12% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: Use the yeast you saved or
Danstar nottingham dry yeast or
Wyeast 1056 (american ale) or 1272 (american ale 2)

6 lbs X-tra light DME (dry malt extract)
1 lb american crystal grain 40°l (ask them and they will crush it)
1 oz Chinook pellets (bittering hops)
1 oz Cascade pellets (flavor hops)
muslin bags (3) if you do not have them
irish moss (for protien seperation and clearing)
Yeast (if yours is not good)
Carbonation: Be sure to check the specific gravities (original and finishing) and make notes of them.
