Waterman Road APA

Just another variety to have on hand when my friends from Las Vegas come "home" to Pittsburgh to visit in early July.

Beer: Waterman Road APA Style: American Pale Ale
Type: Partial mash Size: 5 gallons
Color:
14 HCU (~9 SRM)
Bitterness: 64 IBU
OG: 1.067 FG: 1.015
Alcohol: 6.8% v/v (5.3% w/w)
Water: All bottled Pennsylvania Spring Water.
Grain: 3 lb. British pale
1 lb. American crystal 20L
Mash: 45% efficiency
Cracked all grain & put in mash pot with 1 gallon water. Raised temp to 140°F and held for 35 minutes. Raised temp to about 155°F with addition of 1/2 gallon of 200°F water and held for 40 minutes. Sparged with 1 gallon of 170°F water.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.056 6 gallons
6 lb. Light dry malt extract
Added 1/4 oz. Irish Moss powder at 20 minutes left in boil.
Hops: 1 oz. Columbus (16% AA, 45 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 15 min.)
2 oz. Cascade (aroma)
Yeast: 1 vial/tube of White Labs California Ale Yeast (WLP001)
Log: Brewed 4/30/06. Primary ferment will be 7 days. Secondary ferment will be 7-14 days. No dry hopping.
Carbonation: Will bottle with 5 oz. Corn Sugar for priming.
