Revolutionary Pale Ale

Beer: Revolutionary Pale Ale Style: American Pale Ale
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
12 HCU (~8 SRM)
Bitterness: 20 IBU
OG: 1.052 FG: 1.013
Alcohol: 5.0% v/v (3.9% w/w)
Water: Used distilled water.
Grain: 0.5 lb. American crystal 40L
0.5 lb. Flaked barley
Steep: Steeped grains for 20 minutes at 160 degrees and sparged with 1 gallon of water heated to 200 degrees.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.129 2 gallons
6.6 lb. Light malt extract
Added liquid malt and 1 oz of cascade hops to 3 gallons of water and started the heat. After 50 minutes of a rolling boil, added 1 oz of Cascade hops. After 58 minutes added another oz of Cascade hopes.
Hops: 1 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 60 min.)
2 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: Whitbread ale yeast and used a starter.
Tasting: Nice malt flavor, but not as much hop flavor as I usually like.
