Cascade IPA

Brewer: Beechwood Brewery Email: -
Beer: Cascade IPA Style: India Pale Ale
Type: All grain Size: 25 liters
Color:
8 HCU (~6 SRM)
Bitterness: 39 IBU
OG: 1.045 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 4.6% v/v (3.6% w/w)
Water: Carbon filtered all liquor to remove chlorine, added 4tsps dry liquor salts to dry grain, and tsp gypsum. (I've just moved house to a new area, therefore this could be way off the mark. I'll try and work out if it's right soon, but first we'll taste the beer.)
Grain: 4kg British pale
.25kg Wheat malt
.25kg British crystal 50-60L
Mash: 80% efficiency
The mash was a single step mash conducted for 90 mins @ 66°C. Fly sparged to the boiler over approx 30 mins, although I may slow this down in future and see if efficiency increases.
Boil: 90 minutes SG 1.045 25 liters
Irish Moss @15mins
Hops: 50g Cascade (6% AA, 60 min.)
35g Cascade (6% AA, 15 min.)
15g Cascade (aroma)
Yeast: I used Safele dried Ale Yeast, no starter
Log: Dry hopped 15g in the primary. Racked to secondary on fourth day of fermentation (possibly to early (gravity was 1018).
