17 HCU (~10 SRM)
Bitterness: 26 IBU
OG: 1.061 FG: 1.016
Alcohol: 5.8% v/v (4.5% w/w)
Water: eehh, tap water works
Grain: 1 lb. Fawcett Optic pale
.5 lb. American crystal 20L
Steep: Grains steeped for 45 minutes in grain bag at about 150°F in 2 gallons water. Strained and sparged with 1 gallon 170°F water.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.102 3 gallons
3.3 lb. Amber malt extract
3.5 lb. Light dry malt extract
1 tsp Irish Moss added at 5 mintues
1 tsp Yeast Nurtient added at 5 minutes.
Challenger and Brambling Cross pellets were in hops bag. Willamette hops were loose in the boil.
Hops: 1 oz. Challenger (8% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Brambling Cross (6% AA, 45 min.)
.5 oz. Willamette (5% AA, 20 min.)
.5 oz. Willamette (aroma)
Yeast: WYeast 1084 Irish Ale Activator Pack
Log: Brewed: 2.11.06
Bottled: 2.26.063/4 Corn Sugar boiled in 1 pint water for 10 minutes
Tasting: Tasted 3.10.06 Slight hop aroma from the Willamette. Verrry malty and goodness throughout. At close to 6% ABV, a dangerous sessionable brew
