Gadgets Amber Ale

My first attempt at brewing

Beer: Gadgets Amber Ale Style: American Ale
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5.5 gallons
Color:
16 HCU (~10 SRM)
Bitterness: 28 IBU
OG: 1.067 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 7.3% v/v (5.7% w/w)
Water: Used store bought bottled water, 1/3 oz of Burton Water Salts added after boil started
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.147 2.5 gallons
6.6 lb. Light malt extract
3.3 lb. Amber malt extract
Irish Moss added last 10 minutes of the boil
Hops: 1 oz. Chinook (12% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Kent Goldings (6% AA, 30 min.)
1 oz. Fuggles (4.2% AA, 15 min.)
.5 oz. Cascade (4.6% AA, 5 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (aroma)
Yeast: White Labs WLP060 American Ale Blend
Log: Started on 8-5-06 (1.050), racked to secondary on 8-8-06 (1.020)added 1 oz Cascade Hops, Bottled on 8-20-06 (1.010)
Carbonation: 3/4 cup Priming Sugar added and then bottled
Tasting: Cracked open my first one on 8/30/06. Tastes very good. Lots of Hops flavor.
Next attempt at this I will cut back on the bittering hops a little and maybe lighten up the color.
For a first beer I am more than pleased.
