Bob's Angler Ale

This is a beer that my dad asked me to brew for his birthday. He likes a light color, with moderate hop flavor. I added the Carastan for body.

Brewer: Bob DeLaHunt Email: BobDLaHunt@aol.com
Beer: Bob's Angler Ale Style: American Pale Ale
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 6 gallons
Color:
10 HCU (~7 SRM)
Bitterness: 25 IBU
OG: 1.050 FG: 1.012
Alcohol: 4.9% v/v (3.8% w/w)
Grain: 1 lb. American 2-row
1 lb. British Carastan light
Steep: 160° for 45 minutes
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.100 3 gallons
6 lb. Light dry malt extract
irish moss added final 15 minutes for clarity
Hops: .5 oz. Centennial (10.6% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Cascade (5.4% AA, 45 min.)
.5 oz. Cascade (5.4% AA, 30 min.)
.5 oz. Centennial (10.6% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: EDME dry
Log: Wow the batch went crazy during primary fermentation, it blew the lid clean off. Used a blow-off to control the overactive fermentation. I was quite scared that the lid blowing off might introduce bacteria, but it never happened. Racked to the secondary for just 1 week (I was running out of time).
Carbonation: 2.4 volumes Corn Sugar: 5.14 oz. for 5 gallons @ 74°F
Tasting: 2 weeks after bottling and boy am I surprised! This is one great tasting brew. Good body, nice finish. I will definitely brew this again. Wonderful summer brew. Serve it cold.
