26 HCU (~14 SRM)
Bitterness: 35 IBU
OG: 1.048 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 4.9% v/v (3.8% w/w)
Water: Hooked up garden hose, the old grey one with tons of mold in it.
Grain: 18 lb. German Munich
2 lb. British crystal 70-80L
Mash: 75% efficiency
190° infusion down to 168
Immediately added cold water to reduce to 152°
152° @ 45 min
Mash out @ 168°
Sparged for 35 min @ 176°
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.042 13 gallons
Forgot to add anything.
Hops: 1 oz. Perle (7.3% AA, 60 min.)
3 oz. Tettnanger (4.2% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Tettnanger (4.2% AA, 15 min.)
1 oz. Perle (aroma)
Yeast: 1056 American Ale: Used commercially for several classic American ales. This strain ferments dry, finishes soft, smooth and dean, and is very well balanced. Flocculation low to medium; apparent attenuation 73-77%. (60-72oF)
Tasting: Initial tasting at kegging is good, slighty hoppy, much less than Sierra Nevada, but good. Extremely MALTY...maybe on to something here. A new class: Hopped American Amber Ale...HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Pronounced as James Brown would...HHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaa!!!!
