Prairie Pale Ale

This is just a nice ale recipe that I developed. I really don't know what style it would fall under, so I classified it as a Canadian Ale. Very drinkable, and a good one to to choose when introducing someone to homebrewed beer (colour and hops won't scare them off).

Brewer: Mike LeBlanc Email: ciphi@mts.net
Beer: Prairie Pale Ale Style: Canadian Ale
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 23 liters
Color:
9 HCU (~6 SRM)
Bitterness: 23 IBU
OG: 1.041 FG: 1.012
Alcohol: 3.8% v/v (3.0% w/w)
Water: You can throw in a tablespoon of gypsum if you have really soft water.
Grain: 10 oz. American crystal 20L
Steep: Throw the crystal malt in a grain bag or cheesecloth, and steep in about 3 liters of 150° water for 20-30 minutes (do NOT boil!!).
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.095 10 liters
6 lb. 9 oz. Light malt extract
I like to add in 250g of maltodextrin for body and mouthfeel. I also throw in a teaspoon of Irish moss to help in clearing (add in 15 minutes before end of boil).
Hops: 1.5 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 15 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (aroma)
Yeast: Wyeast 1056
