Type: All grain Size: 5.5 gallons
Color:
123 HCU (~40 SRM)
Bitterness: 24 IBU
OG: 1.056 FG: 1.020
Alcohol: 4.7% v/v (3.7% w/w)
Water: charcoal filtered
Grain: 8 lb. American 2-row
1 lb. Belgian biscuit
1.5 lb. American crystal 90L
1 lb. Flaked oats
1 lb. Roasted barley
Mash: 70% efficiency
Mash in 4.5 gal. @156 deg. for 90 min.
Sparge with 4 gal. @175 deg.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.048 6.5 gallons
4 oz. cocoa powder
4 oz. coffee beans
1 lb. lactose
add cocoa powder, lactose and coffee beans @15 min
(the coffee beans I crushed a 1/4 cup of them)
I used Hersheys Cocoa Powder
Hops: .5 oz. Perle (7% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Perle (7% AA, 30 min.)
.5 oz. Fuggles (4.75% AA, 15 min.)
.5 oz. Fuggles (aroma)
Yeast: Nottingham Ale
Tasting: WOW!...I ended up with an OG of 1.070!!!...my final gravity @ bottling time was 1.020. This stuff is spectacular! Just enough chocolate and coffee undertones.Would NOT change a thing!
