Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5.2 gallons
Color:
141 HCU (~44 SRM)
Bitterness: 54 IBU
OG: 1.077 FG: 1.022
Alcohol: 7.2% v/v (5.6% w/w)
Grain: 1 lb. American crystal 60L
1 lb. Roasted barley
Steep: Steeped crystal and smoked malt from cold water to boil then removed grain bag
Boil: 65 minutes SG 1.062 6.5 gallons
3.3 lb. Light malt extract
3.3 lb. Dark malt extract
3 lb. Light dry malt extract
Added 1 TBS Irish moss at 30 minutes
Hops: 2 oz. Fuggles (4.75% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Fuggles (4.75% AA, 30 min.)
1 oz. Kent Goldings (aroma)
Yeast: Started with White Labs Irish Ale yeast - no activity after 24 hours so added 12g Munton's Ale yeast
Log: Brewed Nov 5th 2005, Racked to secondary on Nov 11th, Bottled Nov 20
Carbonation: Added 3/4 cup corn sugar in 1 pint water boiled and cooled
Tasting: Initial flavor not very hoppy for having used 5 oz hops total
