Tank's All Out Imperial Stout

Simply the best beer I have ever made.

Brewer: Mole & Tank Email: badmole@yahoo.com

Beer: Tank's All Out Imperial Stout Style: Imperial Stout
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
220 HCU
Bitterness: 69 IBU
OG: 1.092 FG: 1.026
Alcohol: 8.5% v/v (6.7% w/w)
Water: 1 teaspoon salt
1/2 tsp gypsum
1/2 tsp citric acid
Added to San Francisco tap
Grain: 2 lb. American crystal 120L
1 lb. British crystal 70-80L
1.5 lb. British black patent
Steep: I drop all the grain into a steeping bag, suspended in the cold "wort"
water. I bring the water to a boil, remove the grain, add the extract,
put the bittering hops into the empty grain bag and back into the water. The grains are in a strainer over the primary fermenter, begging to be sparged.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.154 3 gallons
9 lb. Dark dry malt extract
Hops: 3 oz. Columbus (16.9% AA, 60 min.)
2 oz. Cascade (aroma)
Yeast: 1 pkg Coopers dry yeast.
Log: 1 ounce Cascade hop tea added prior to bottling.
Tasting: Fantastic! Don't be scared of the high bitterness number; it gets lost in the darkness.
