Long Legged Porter

A roasty porter that's refreshing by itself and would go along well with a steak, too.

Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5. gallons
Color:
48 HCU (~21 SRM)
Bitterness: 31 IBU
OG: 1.050 FG: 1.012
Alcohol: 4.9% v/v (3.9% w/w)
Grain: 8 oz. American crystal 60L
8 oz. American chocolate
Steep: Steeped grains at 160 degrees in hosiery before boiling wort.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.084 3. gallons
5. lb. Light dry malt extract
4. oz. Cane sugar
Hops: 1. oz. Northern Brewer (10% AA, 50 min.)
1. oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: Nottingham Windsor dry yeast, rehydrated according to Danstar.
Log: Fermented two weeks, bottle-conditioned two weeks.
Carbonation: Used 3 oz. by weight of cane sugar, boiled in two cups water. Gently stirred cooled solution into fermenting bucket for bottling.
Tasting: Aroma-English and fruity. Flavor-Great balance of hops and sweet malt, with a satisfying, roasty finish. Smooth like a pair of long legs.
