Bitter Re-Porter

Slightly bitter and hoppy porter, dedicated to all of the poor bitter tv reporters.

Type: Extract w/grain Size: 2.5 gallons
Color:
194 HCU
Bitterness: 64 IBU
OG: 1.068 FG: 1.015
Alcohol: 6.9% v/v (5.4% w/w)
Grain: 8.0 oz. American chocolate
8.0 oz. American black patent
Steep: Steep crushed chocolate malt and roasted black barley in 1.5 gallons of water at 150º for 30 minutes.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.114 1.5 gallons
3.30 lb. Telford’s amber malt extract syrup
1.00 lb. Amber malt extract
Add 1.5 oz of Nugget hops for one hour boil.
Add .5 oz of Nugget hops to fermentor after one week.
Bottle after two weeks.
Hops: 1.5 oz. Nugget (11% AA, 60 min.)
Yeast: California Ale II (Wyeast)
Log: Cool the wort to 80º F, aerate the wort and pitch yeast. Ferment for 10 days. Bottle, and age for at least 3 weeks.
Carbonation: 2.5 volumes Cane Sugar: 2.09 oz. for 2.5 gallons @ 68°F
