Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
119 HCU (~40 SRM)
Bitterness: 5 IBU
OG: 1.072 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 8.0% v/v (6.3% w/w)
Grain: 1 lb. American crystal 120L
3 oz. American black patent
3 oz. Roasted barley
8 oz. Flaked wheat
Steep: place crushed crystal malt, black patent,torrefied wheat,and roasted barley in water, and steep at 155 deg. for 30 min
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.180 2 gallons
3 lb. Amber dry malt extract
3 lb. Dark dry malt extract
1 lb. 8 oz. Honey
remove spent grains add malt extract and bittering hops, and boil for 30 min. Add melted chocolate(2 min in micriwave dose nicely) and boil 30 min. add aroma hops last 5 min. of boil.
Hops: .5 oz. Fuggles (4.75% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Hallertauer Hersbrucker (5% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Fuggles (aroma)
Yeast: 1 package Irish ale yeast liquid
Log: ferment for 5 to 7 days at ~70*, then transfer to secondary fermenter,age 10 to 14 days.bottle and age 4 to 6 weeks.
Carbonation: 3/4 cup corn sugar (priming)
Tasting: I'ts an excellant porter that is bitter with subtle chocolatey sweetness.if you like porter try this one.
