midnight porter

This beer is dry hopped with a chinook hops that is put in the carboy after the yeast blooms and blows off during primary fermentation. use a cotton mesh bag to aviod leaves in the glass. i decant three times to clear the beer and use a dry english yeastthat sinks in large clumps but has good attenuation.

Alcohol: 7.6% v/v (6.0% w/w)
Water: decant 3x once each week of fermentation
Grain: .5 lb. Belgian Munich
.5 lb. Belgian CaraMunich
.5 lb. Belgian Special B
.5 lb. Belgian chocolate
.5 lb. British black patent
Mash: 70% efficiency
1.place panrtialy crushed malt in bag of cotton 2. immerse in 5 gallons cold water bring to a simmer 3.simmer 20 mins 4.remove and sparge
Boil: minutes SG 1.074 5 gallons
8.5 lb. Light malt extract
brewers licorice
Hops: 2 oz. Chinook (12% AA, 60 min.)
2 oz. Saaz (3.75% AA, 45 min.)
2 oz. Saaz (3.75% AA, 30 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: dry english but trappist makes it nice also
Log: 3wk primary
2wk bottle condition
Carbonation: 3/4 c sugar to prime bottles
Tasting: this beer is hoppy. beginners should not start here. this is a porer version of a xxxpaleale
