Pudgie Porter

This was my first brew! Very good, if simple beer. All my friends liked it as well, and that's what it is all about right? Good friends, good brew, good life!

Brewer: Jeff Clough Email: jclough59@hotmail.com
Beer: Pudgie Porter Style: Brown Porter
Type: Extract Size: 5 gallons
Color:
42 HCU (~19 SRM)
Bitterness: 94 IBU
OG: 1.055 FG: !!!n/a
Alcohol: -
Water: Didn't use any water treatment, but boiled entire 5 gallons.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.055 5 gallons
5 lb. Amber malt extract
2 lb. Dark dry malt extract
Hops: 2 oz. Nugget (12% AA, 60 min.)
2 oz. Tettnanger (4.5% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: Wyeast, London II, no starter used. After yeast was pitched, it was VERY active in 12 hours, and continued for two days.
Log: First brewed on 8/01/98. Single ferment @ 71° for two weeks.
Carbonation: Primed with 3/4 cup corn sugar boiled in 2 cups of water.
Tasting: Tasted great! Sort of a chocolate right at first, flowing into a coffee aftertaste. Not too strong of a coffee taste, just a hint! Really liked it, but haven't been able to copy it just the same yet. Try, try again, no?
