Bitterness: 75 IBU
OG: 1.076 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 8.6% v/v (6.7% w/w)
Water: Water treated with 1/2tblspn of calium carbonate for Mash to make 3.25 gallons
Grain: 10.75 lb. American 2-row
.75 lb. Belgian aromatic
.75 lb. American crystal 20L
1.25 lb. American crystal 40L
.75 lb. Dextrine malt (Cara-Pils)
Mash: 55% efficiency
Strike temp 168. Mash for 75minutes @ 154. Mash out 168 for ten minutes. Sparge 3gallons @ 169. Mash ph was 5.44. Left uncorrected.
Boil: 90 minutes SG 1.070 6 gallons
3 lb. Light dry malt extract
Hops: 1 oz. amarillo (9.6% AA, 90 min.)
1 oz. Chinook (12.5% AA, 45 min.)
.25 oz. amarillo (9.6% AA, 30 min.)
.5 oz. amarillo (9.6% AA, 15 min.)
1 oz. amarillo (aroma)
1 oz. Chinook (aroma)
Yeast: Used WLP090 San Deigo Super Yeast.
Log: Primary 5 1/2 days. 68degrees. Crazy ativity!!! went down to gravity of 1.012. Secondary 3 days.
Carbonation: Force carbonation
Tasting: Tasted after primary fermintation. Freaking amazing!!
Final verdict: Almost nailed it. First batch in four years. Need to get better mash efficiency to bring OG to 1.080 range. Side by side tasting with Eye of the Hawk: A little more body and I'm there!!
