Bitterness: 12 IBU
OG: 1.069 FG: 1.013
Alcohol: 7.2% v/v (5.7% w/w)
Water: I used Leisure Time bottled spring water
Grain: 6 oz. American crystal 60L
6 oz. American chocolate
6 oz. Roasted barley
Steep: bring 1 1/2 gal. spring water to boil in brew pot and remove from heat. Grains steeped in brew pot for 25 min. prior to adding extract
Boil: 60 min minutes SG 1.230 1.5 gallons
6.6 lb. Muntons light malt extract
1 lb. Muntons Dark dry malt extract
1 lb. Sue Bee Clover Honey
1 tsp Irish moss last 15 min of boil
Hops: 1 oz. Fuggles (4.75% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Northern Brewer (8.5% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 10 min.)
.5 oz. Fuggles (4.75% AA, 10 min.)
.5 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 2 min.)
Yeast: 2 packages of Muntons Gold yeast
Log: primary for 7 days at aprox. 66° F
secondary for 8 days at aprox. 66° F
Carbonation: 5 oz priming sugar @ bottling
Tasting: I am rather new to home brewing and this was my first attempt with out using a packaged kit. Great flavor and head, My buddy who home brews a lot loved it. let me know what you think if you try it.
