Skunk Vomit

Shooting for a typical Dark Mild Ale.

Brewer: Dr. Rhomboid Goatcabin Email: -
Beer: Skunk Vomit Style: English Dark Mild
Type: All grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
39 HCU (~19 SRM)
Bitterness: 31 IBU
OG: 1.038 FG: 1.009
Alcohol: 3.7% v/v (2.9% w/w)
Grain: 5 lb. American 2-row
.25 lb. American crystal 40L
1.5 lb. American crystal 60L
Mash: 70% efficiency
Single-infusion mash at ~151° F.
I don't mash with roasted malts, makes the wort too dark
to do iodine test. I steep the roasted malts instead.
Boil: 75 minutes SG 1.038 5 gallons
4 oz. Cane sugar
4 oz. American Chocolate
Irish Moss for last 20 minutes.
The American chocolate malt was steeped for
30 minutes -- NOT boiled (Yuck!)
Hops: 1.25 oz. Fuggles pellets 4.1% (4.1% AA, 75 min.)
.625 oz. Fuggles Flowers 4.8% (4.8% AA, 75 min.)
Yeast: Wyeast 1026
Carbonation: 1.8 volumes Keg: 10.2 psi @ 55°F
Tasting: Very good. The whole five gallons was drunk over the course
of a weekend with a bunch of friends. Well received.
