Extra Special Barstard

A nice beer, although one of my flatmates couldnt even drink it, cos it was too bitter for him! more for me!

Beer: Extra Special Barstard Style: English Strong (Extra Special) Bitter
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 13 liters
Color:
26 HCU (~14 SRM)
Bitterness: 69 IBU
OG: 1.046 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 4.7% v/v (3.7% w/w)
Water: Christchurch tap water, its very soft. probably best to add some gypsum
Grain: 150g British crystal 50-60L
50g British chocolate
Steep: steep grain for 30mins at 65°
Boil: 45 minutes SG 1.060 10 liters
1.5kg Light malt extract
300g Cane sugar
Hops: 40g NZ BSaaz (8.6% AA, 45 min.)
20g NZ Fuggles (4.5% AA, 30 min.)
20g NZ Fuggles (aroma)
Yeast: Safale dried yeast
Log: primary for 12days at cool temps (10-15C°)
Carbonation: 1 teaspoon of cane sugar per 745ml bottle
Tasting: A nice beer, sweet malt with a bitter palate that has a long finish of fruit and bitterness.
