Double J Brown Ale

This recipe started as a A.P.A. but due to an ordering
mistake I got amber extract instead of light. Anyway... it
is a nice hoppy brew.

Type: Partial mash Size: 5 gallons
Color:
29 HCU (~15 SRM)
Bitterness: 37 IBU
OG: 1.076 FG: 1.008
Alcohol: 8.7% v/v (6.8% w/w)
Water: Used bottled spring water
Grain: 1 lb. American 2-row
7 oz. Flaked barley
Mash: 50% efficiency
Mash grains at 155f for 1 hour sparge with 1 gallon 170f
water
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.126 3 gallons
8 lb. Amber malt extract
1 lb. 4 oz. Amber dry malt extract
Add 1 tsp. Irish moss 45 minutes in to boil.
Hops: 1 oz. Chinook (12% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 45 min.)
.5 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 30 min.)
.5 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 15 min.)
1.5 oz. Cascade (aroma)
Yeast: Wyeast 1056 in 2qt starter
Log: Fermented 9 days in primary, transferresd to secondary with
1.5oz cascades for 2 weeks.
Carbonation: Batch primed with 1.25 cups DME
Tasting: This brew develops a chill haze. Next time I think I will
use toasted wheat instead of barley and maybe add some
crystal.
