Organic Pale Ale

A really simple beer, that turned out great.

Type: All grain Size: 12 liters
Color:
4 HCU (~4 SRM)
Bitterness: 28 IBU
OG: 1.045 FG: 1.006
Alcohol: 5.1% v/v (4.0% w/w)
Water: very soft water used
Grain: 3kg NZ Organic Pilsner
Mash: 60% efficiency
steeped at 65C until conversion
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.045 12 liters
Hops: 20g NZ Organic Hallertauer-Aroma (6.3% AA, 60 min.)
10g NZ Organic Hallertauer-Aroma (6.3% AA, 5 min.)
Yeast: Safale dried yeast - hydrated.
Log: 1 week primary at 16-20C
1 week secondary
Tasting: Wow, this beer is nice! The Hallertau gives it a European/German tinge, which is fine. The use of all organic ingredients gives the beer a really clean edge. Its almost a lager!
