Blonde Ale

An excellent light-bodied ale. Great "lawn-mower" beer
Used Briess 2-row and instant rice.

3 HCU (~3 SRM)
Bitterness: 28 IBU
OG: 1.050 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 5.2% v/v (4.1% w/w)
Water: 1/2 tsp CaCl to adjust mash pH to 5.4. My water profile is nearly identical to that of Munich.
Grain: 8 lb. American 2-row
1 lb. Flaked rice
Mash: 82% efficiency
Single step infusion. Masheed at 150° for 90 minutes. Mash-out at 168° by direct fire. Fly-sparge with 5 gal water at 168° acidified with Phosphoric Acid.
Boil: 70 minutes SG 1.039 7 gallons
1 tsp irish moss at 15 min.
Hops: .75 oz. Northern Brewer (7.4% AA, 60 min.)
0.5 oz. Saaz (3.75% AA, 30 min.)
0.5 oz. Saaz (aroma)
Yeast: Danstar Nottingham rehydrated before pitching.
Log: Primary fermentation 1 week @ 64° and secondaried 2 weeks at 64°.
Carbonation: carbonated to 2.5 atmospheres.
Tasting: Smooth, light body and good head. Clean flavor profile and clear appearance.
