Alcohol: 5.8% v/v (4.6% w/w)
Water: abita springs tap water
Grain: 10 lb. American 2-row
8 oz. American crystal 60L
1.5 lb. Dextrine malt (Cara-Pils)
1.0 lb. Rolled oats
Mash: 86% efficiency
single infusion @150 deg
for one hour followed by
a multistaged sparge at 178 deg
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.044 12 gallons
3 lb. Honey
one hour boil at just under rolling,
add whirlfloc (2-tabs) in last 5 min.
add honey after the fire is turned off
and before cooling
Hops: 1 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Hallertauer (4.25% AA, 30 min.)
1 oz. Saaz (3.75% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: home grow california ale yeast (wlp001)
2quarts added at 80 deg.
Log: primary at 73deg for 2 weeks
secondary at 68 deg for 2 weeks
bottle or keg for 10 days about 70 deg
cold age 2 weeks below 50deg
Carbonation: 3/4 cup honey per 5 gal for bottles,or
1/2 cup honey per 5 gal keg.
Tasting: enjoy,have fun,brew naked
