Bitterness: 117 IBU
OG: 1.061 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 6.6% v/v (5.2% w/w)
Water: Used Charlotte NC City Water
Grain: 8 oz. American Munich
8 oz. Belgian aromatic
4 oz. Belgian biscuit
4 oz. American crystal 60L
4 oz. Dextrine malt (Cara-Pils)
2 oz. Belgian Special B
4 oz. Flaked barley
Steep: Grains were steeped in 150° water for 30 minutes, then rinsed w/ hot water.
Boil: 90 minutes SG 1.051 6 gallons
6 lb. Light dry malt extract
Added Irish Moss & Servo w/ 15 minutes left in boil.
Used all whole hops
Aroma addition made with 1 minute remaining in boil
Hops: .75 oz. Magnum (15.0% AA, 60 min.)
.75 oz. Amarillo (9.2% AA, 25 min.)
.75 oz. Centennial (10.5% AA, 25 min.)
.75 oz. Amarillo (9.2% AA, 15 min.)
.75 oz. Centennial (10.5% AA, 15 min.)
.75 oz. Amarillo (9.2% AA, 10 min.)
.75 oz. Centennial (10.5% AA, 10 min.)
1.0 oz. Amarillo (aroma)
1.0 oz. Centennial (aroma)
Yeast: Used US-56 dry yeast
Log: Primary in plastic for 14 days @ 70 degrees
Secondary in glass for 14 days @ 70 degrees
Dry hopped for 7 days in secondary with 1oz Amarillo & 1oz Centennial
Bottled with 3/4 cup corn sugar
Tasting: Very hoppy American style IPA. Big hop aroma. Great mouthfeel, bitterness a touch too high. Next time I will reduce Magnums to .5oz
