Hitching Post IPA

This is a nice light colored, medium strength, nice & bitter, very aromatic IPA with great head retention.

Type: All grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
5 HCU (~4 SRM)
Bitterness: 89 IBU
OG: 1.063 FG: 1.014
Alcohol: 6.4% v/v (5.0% w/w)
Water: I use spring water because the water in my area sucks.
Grain: 10 lb. 8 oz. American 2-row
4 oz. British Munich
4 oz. American crystal 10L
4 oz. Dextrine malt (Cara-Pils)
4 oz. Flaked wheat
Mash: 75% efficiency
I use 2 rubbermaid picnic coolers, one fitted with a phil's phalse bottom as a sparge / mash setup.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.053 6 gallons
1 tsp gypsum added to water. 1 tsp Irish Moss added last 15 minutes.
Hops: 2 oz. Chinook (12% AA, 60 min.)
2 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 5 min.)
2 oz. Centennial (aroma)
Yeast: yeast nutrient 1/8th tsp. added to boil (anytime)
Log: brewing on april 11, 2004. ask me how it came out and I'll be happy to share the results!
Carbonation: kegging this batch with forced CO2 to achieve medium carbonation level.
