Columbus IPA

This is a single hop variety IPA. The same as Chinook IPA,
except for Columbus hops, and 3 pounds of wheat malt
replacing 2-row. Single infusion mash this time.

Bitterness: 69 IBU
OG: 1.065 FG: 1.015
Alcohol: 6.4% v/v (5.1% w/w)
Water: 2 tsp Gypsum in Sparge water
Grain: 16 lb. American 2-row
1 lb. 12 oz. American victory
1 lb. 12 oz. American crystal 20L
1 lb. Dextrine malt (Cara-Pils)
8 oz. Barley Hulls
3 lb. Wheat malt
Mash: 68% efficiency
Mash at 154°F for 60 min. Mash out.
Boil: 75 minutes SG 1.053 11 gallons
2 tabs of Whirlfloc at 15 min.
Hops: .67 oz. Columbus (17.8% AA, 60 min.)
.67 oz. Columbus (17.8% AA, 30 min.)
1.3 oz. Columbus (17.8% AA, 15 min.)
1.3 oz. Columbus (17.8% AA, 5 min.)
1.3 oz. Columbus (aroma)
Yeast: 1400 ml Starter of WL CA ale yeast (001)
Log: Brewed 5/18/03 for neighbor BBQ.
2 oz of hops in secondary, transfer hop
sock to serving keg.
Carbonation: 2.4 vol of CO2 force carbonated.
