Ichabod's Oatmeal NEPA

Brewed to match wits with my Headless Horseman Imperial Pumpkin Ale.

Beer: Ichabod's Oatmeal NEPA Style: American Pale Ale
Type: All grain Size: 5.5 gallons
Color:
11 HCU (~8 SRM)
Bitterness: 62 IBU
OG: 1.071 FG: 1.014
Alcohol: 7.4% v/v (5.8% w/w)
Water: 1/2 crushed Campden tab, 2 tsp gypsum and 2 tsp calcium chloride added to tap water.
Grain: 11 lb. American 2-row
2 lb. American Munich
4 oz. American crystal 60L
1 lb. 8 oz. Rolled oats
2 oz. Special Roast
Mash: 72% efficiency
Dough in at 1.2 quarts per pound at 168°F. Hold at 153°F for 45 min. Pull a 1 gallon decoction and add it to 1 gallon boiling water. Once boiling, stir the decoction back into the mash. Hold at 162°F for 10 minutes then sparge with 170°F to collect 7.5 gallons in brewpot.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.052 7.5 gallons
Hops: .5 oz. EXP6277 (15.4% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. EXP6277 (15.4% AA, 5 min.)
2 oz. Amarillo (12.0% AA, 5 min.)
1.5 oz. EXP6277 (15.4% AA, 1 min.)
2 oz. Galaxy (8.7% AA, 1 min.)
2 oz. Amarillo (12.0% AA, 1 min.)
4 oz. Galaxy (aroma)
Yeast: GY054 "Conan"
Log: 7-10 days primary at 65F.
7 days secondary with dry hops.
Carbonation: Keg and force carbonate.
