IPA Light

Lightly Bittered IPA. Great for the newby to all grain brewing.

8 HCU (~6 SRM)
Bitterness: 23 IBU
OG: 1.059 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 6.4% v/v (5.0% w/w)
Water: Carbon Filter
Grain: 21 lb. American 2-row
2 lb. Wheat malt
4 lb. Belgian Munich
1 lb. American crystal 40L
Mash: 80% efficiency
Strike Temp 165° F. Mashing @ 156° F 1 hr. Recirculate last 15 min to set filter bed and clean the wort.
Boil: 90 minutes SG 1.050 16.5 gallons
1 Tbs Irish Moss last 10 min of boil.
Hops: 20g Chinook (12% AA, 90 min.)
20g Hallertauer (4.25% AA, 90 min.)
15g Hallertauer (4.25% AA, 30 min.)
20g Willamette (5% AA, 30 min.)
Yeast: Wyeast 1272 American II. 8 oz starter, 4 oz in each carbouy.
Log: Ferment at 73° F for 2 days then cool to 68° F after transfer to secondary fermenter. Allow to completely stop bubbling. Chill to 50° F for 2 days then drop temp to 34° F for 6 days to clear. If you don't have refrigeration don't worry about the cooling, just allow it wo settle well. If you are going to bottle and use natural carbonation do not cool and allow to settle, all of the yeast will drop out and your beer will not carbonate. If yau are going to keg and can lager it is a nice topping to the beer.
Carbonation: 2.2 volumes Keg: 6.3 psi @ 34°F
