Irish Red Ale

This beer turned out very true to style. A very good reddish orange color with a clean, dry taste. This was a favorite to a wide variety of my beer drinking family and friends.

Bitterness: 19 IBU
OG: 1.058 FG: 1.008
Alcohol: 6.5% v/v (5.1% w/w)
Water: None.
Grain: 12 lb. British pale
.5 lb. German Munich
1 lb. American crystal 20L
2 oz. Roasted barley
.5 lb. Wheat malt
Mash: 60% efficiency
Singe infusion at 155 for 60 min.
Boil: 90 minutes SG 1.053 6 gallons
1 tsp. Irish Moss.
Hops: 1 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 30 min.)
.5 oz. Kent Goldings (aroma)
Yeast: White Labs WPL004 Irish Ale.
Log: Primary fermentation for 1 week at 70 in plastic. Secondary fermentation for 1 week at 70 in plastic. Kegged in stainless steel.
Carbonation: Forced.
