MAPLE PORTER

This beer is a great strong porter, but on the palate, the last thing you taste is the maple, very nice smooth beer, have fun with it! cheers!!

Beer: MAPLE PORTER Style: Robust Porter
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
109 HCU (~37 SRM)
Bitterness: 7 IBU
OG: 1.078 FG: 1.016
Alcohol: 8.1% v/v (6.3% w/w)
Water: boiled tap water
Grain: 1/2 lb. roasted
3/4 lb. crystal 50-60L
10 oz. chocolate
1/4 lb. black
Steep: add all grains in a steeping bag, when water comes to a boil remove steeping bag
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.262 1.5 gallons
6.6 lb. Light malt extract
2.0 lb. Light dry malt extract
16 oz. Maple syrup
add maple syurp, 2 min before the end of the boil
Hops: 1.5 oz. Northern Brewer (8.5% AA, 60 min.)
Yeast: british whitbread (make a yeast starter)
Log: for me it took the beer about 2 months to fully carbonate beautifull head
Carbonation: 3/4 cup corn sugar
Tasting: i wouldnt change this beer at all, the maple flavor is dilicious, very pleasing on the palate,the roasted malts give it that dark beer taste, off setting the maltiness and the sweetness of the maple
