This is a heather ale I created for a friend of mine in our Medieval Club

Type: Partial mash Size: 5 gallons
Color:
16 HCU (~10 SRM)
Bitterness: 14 IBU
OG: 1.067 FG: 1.012
Alcohol: 7.1% v/v (5.6% w/w)
Grain: 1.5 lb. British pale-Maris Otter
.25 oz. British chocolate
1.1 lb. Malted Oats
Mash: 50% efficiency
Partial Mash, 1 gallon of water at 155F, for 60 minutes, sparge with 1 gallon at 155F
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.112 3 gallons
3.5 lb. Maris Otter malt extract
1.5 lb. Light dry malt extract
2.2 lb. Honey, Buckwheat
Irish moss added at 30 minutes
Hops: 30g Crystal (2.5% AA, 60 min.)
60g Heather (1% AA, 60 min.)
30g Crystal (2.5% AA, 30 min.)
60g Heather (aroma)
Yeast: 1 pack Scotch Ale Yeast and 1 pack Thames Valley Ale
Log: Dry hop with at least 2 oz of Heather tips
Carbonation: Carb with 1 cup honey
