Drac's Revenge Garlic Old Ale

The garlic becomes just a hint of garlic flavor. It's a full bodied beer, and tastes a lot better than it sounds.

Beer: Drac's Revenge Garlic Old Ale Style: English Old/Strong Ale
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
22 HCU (~12 SRM)
Bitterness: 35 IBU
OG: 1.062 FG: 1.016
Alcohol: 5.9% v/v (4.7% w/w)
Grain: 1 lb. American crystal 60L
Steep: Crystal steeped for 30 minutes
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.124 2.5 gallons
8 lb. Alexander's Pale malt extract
2 heads of garlic (cloves peeled and cut in half) boiled for 60 min.
2 additional heads (cloves peeled and cut) boiled for 20 min.
Hops: 2 oz. Northern Brewer (8.5% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 3 min.)
Yeast: Cooper's Ale Yeast
Log: All garlic left in the primary for 1 week. Removed garlic when racking to secondary (additional 1 week).
Carbonation: Primed with 3/4 cup corn sugar, but will use honey next time.
Tasting: Garlic flavor started dissipating rapidly in the bottle after about 3 weeks. Now (3 months later) you can tell that there was garlic added only if you know it was an ingredient.
