The Funky Pumpkin Ale

A Fan favorite makes it haunting return in time for Halloween. The Funky Pumpkin Ale from the MCBA.

Bitterness: 28 IBU
OG: 1.061 FG: 1.014
Alcohol: 6.1% v/v (4.7% w/w)
Water: Used PH 5.2 stablizer to hit target PH levels
Grain: 24 lb. American 2-row
1 lb. 8 oz. Belgian aromatic
1 lb. 8 oz. American crystal 60L
1 lb. 8 oz. Melanoidin
Mash: 70% efficiency
Mashed grains for 75 mins at 154 ° Sparged with 170 ° water.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.056 13 gallons
Used 2 medium size pie pumkins, cut into cubes and baked at 375 ° for an hour, then added to boil at 30 mins. Added 4 cinnamon sticks to wort at start of boil, and two more at 45 mins into boil. Also added 2 tbl spoons pumpkin spice mix and 1 cup of molassas at 45 mins into boil.
Hops: 2 oz. Styrian Goldings (5.5% AA, 60 min.)
2 oz. Hallertauer Hersbrucker (5% AA, 30 min.)
2 oz. Hallertauer Hersbrucker (aroma)
Yeast: White Labs WL001, 2 vials pitched into wort. Added yeast nutrient and areated with oxygen.
Log: Brewed on 9-18, moved to secondary on 9-27 cooled to 45°. Warmed to room temp on 10-8 and bottled on 10-9.
Carbonation: Corn sugar added to bottling bucket, then bottled.
Tasting: Beer has good pumpkin and spice flavor, and nice orange color.
SG: 1070 FG: 1.016 ABV 7.1%
