Our best beer to date!
A half-German, half-American wheat ale with sweet orange
and coriander. Inspired by and better than Bell's Oberon.

Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
5 HCU (~4 SRM)
Bitterness: 12 IBU
OG: 1.047 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 4.8% v/v (3.7% w/w)
Water: Untreated Culligan water from Meijer
Grain: 2 lb. Belgian pale
1 lb. Wheat malt
1 lb. Belgian Munich
Steep: Seperate grain: one pound per large muslin bag.
Steep grain in 2.5 gallons of 155°F water for 60 minutes.
Drain grain bags by pressing with brew spoon for best steeping efficiency.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.094 2.5 gallons
3.3 lb. Wheat extract
Add 1 tsp. Gypsum at beginning of boil.
Add 1 tsp. Irish Moss at 15 minutes.
Add .5 oz. of both dried sweet orange peel and coarsely crushed coriander
to boil at 45 min., again at 15 min.
Hops: .25 oz. Hallertauer (5% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Hallertauer (5% AA, 30 min.)
.5 oz. Tettnanger (4.5% AA, 30 min.)
.25 oz. Hallertauer (5% AA, 15 min.)
.5 oz. Tettnanger (aroma)
Yeast: East Labs American Hefeweizen
Log: Primary: 4 days
Secondary: 10 days
Tasting: The house favorite. Will brew again.
