Spring Moon Ale

Simple good aromatic beer

Beer: Spring Moon Ale Style: English Mild ale
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 2.75 gallons
Color:
25 HCU (~14 SRM)
Bitterness: 46 IBU
OG: 1.050 FG: 1.011
Alcohol: 5.0% v/v (4.0% w/w)
Water: Fauset carbon filter
medium-high H2O hardeness
Grain: 0.59 lb. Clarity ale malt
0.59 lb. American crystal 40L
Steep: From room temp, in a grain bag,steep,at just before boil
thick crush of grains if possible
Boil: 60 min. minutes SG 1.046 3 gallons
1.48 lb. Amber dry malt extract
1.48 lb. Wheat dry malt extract
(1) 1/2 tsp. irish moss
(2) 1/2 tsp yeast nutrient( it really works)*
Hops: 1.14 oz. Fuggles (5.00% AA, 60 min.)
0.57 oz. Fuggles (5.00% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: Dry ale yeast Nottingham -fallow instr.
Log: Brewed on 3/16/02 at temp(67-72 F.)
Carbonation: After 4 days get ready for bottling, 4-5 primetabs per 12oz or 80 per 21/2 party pigs or medicine rock containers(fill with beer to one inch of bottom of the neck)**or 1/2 cup c.s.
