Heffenweizen

This is a smooth drinker, with a nice bananna cove flavor.

Beer: Heffenweizen Style: Weizen/Weissbier
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
12 HCU (~8 SRM)
Bitterness: 35 IBU
OG: 1.053 FG: 1.054
Alcohol: -
Grain: .5 lb. German Munich
1 lb. Flaked oats
Steep: Steep grains seperately in their own bags until the boil just begins. Turn the boil off and steep for an additional 15 min. Sparge with 1 gal of water. Add the Malt Extract and put back on the boil.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.041 6.5 gallons
6.6 lb. Wheat extract
Once the boil gets rolling, add the hops for 60 min.
Add yeast nutrient with 15 min to go. Cool with cooling coil. Add to
Hops: 2 oz. Hallertauer (4.75% AA, 60 min.)
Yeast: WLP300, Heffeweizen, one veil
Carbonation: Kegged with force carbonation over two days.
Tasting: Bananna and clove taste, very smooth and refreshing, easy drinker.
