Blue Wit

Beer: Blue Wit Style: Belgian White (Wit)
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
7 HCU (~6 SRM)
Bitterness: 21 IBU
OG: 1.054 FG: 1.006
Alcohol: 6.3% v/v (4.9% w/w)
Water: Detroit Tap Water
Grain: 6 oz. Belgian Pilsner
8 oz. Wheat malt
4 oz. Belgian aromatic
8 oz. Flaked wheat
Steep: Place grain bag in 5 of 6 gal cold water in boil pot. Reserve 1 gal. Bring 5 gal to 165° F and steep for 40 min. Heat reserved gal to 165° and pour through grain bag into boil pot to sparge. Don't squeeze the bag.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.045 6 gallons
3 lb. Light dry malt extract
3 lb. Wheat extract
.5 oz Bitter Orange Peel last ten minutes
.5 oz Cracked coriander last ten minutes
Hops: .5 oz. Fuggles (4.75% AA, 30 min.)
.5 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 30 min.)
.5 oz. Saaz (3.75% AA, 30 min.)
.5 oz. Fuggles (aroma)
.5 oz. Kent Goldings (aroma)
.5 oz. Saaz (aroma)
Yeast: Belgian Weat
