Wheat Beer

Beer: Wheat Beer Style: Hefe Weizen
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
2 HCU (~3 SRM)
Bitterness: 8 IBU
OG: 1.045 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 4.5% v/v (3.5% w/w)
Water: Use 6 gallons of spring water for the boil.
Grain: 1 lb. Wheat malt
Steep: Add cracked wheat grain to 6 gallons of cold water.
Heat to 165 degrees over 30 minutes and remove grains.
Boil: 45 minutes SG 1.037 6 gallons
2 lb. Light dry malt extract
3 lb. Wheat dry malt extract
Hops: 1 oz. Hallertauer (2.5% AA, 45 min.)
Yeast: Wyeast #3942 Belgian Wheat liquid yeast
(no starter)
Log: Brewed July 13, 1997
Use single stage fermentation at 68-72 degrees for four weeks.
Keg or bottle condition for 1-2 weeks and enjoy!
Carbonation: Use 5 oz. corn sugar for bottle priming.
