Strassners Octoberbest

This is a very nice Marzen well balanced with a nice finish.

Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5.5 gallons
Color:
14 HCU (~9 SRM)
Bitterness: 18 IBU
OG: 1.068 FG: 1.014
Alcohol: 6.9% v/v (5.4% w/w)
Grain: .5 lb. German Vienna
1 lb. American crystal 20L
.5 lb. German Crystal
Steep: Steep specialty grains at 160° F. for 20-30 minutes.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.107 3.5 gallons
9.5 lb. Light malt extract
1 lb of malto-dextrine at beginning of boil if extra body is desired.
1 tsp Irish moss last 15 minutes of boil.
Hops: 1 oz. Northern Brewer (8.5% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Tettnanger (4.5% AA, 5 min.)
Yeast: White labs WLP 029 kolsh yeast or equivilant.
Log: Fermented beer at 70°F for 14 days in primary. Moved beer to glass carboy for 1 week or so to clear. Kegged beer approx 3 weeks after brewing.
Carbonation: Force carbonated, but not too heavily.
