Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.046 15 gallons
5.09kg Amber malt extract
2.75kg Light malt extract
Hops: 35g Northern Brewer (8.5% AA, 60 min.)
56g Northern Brewer (8.5% AA, 30 min.)
56g Northern Brewer (8.5% AA, 5 min.)
Yeast: Two packages #2112 California Lager
Log: This recipe uses lager yeast but is fermented at ALE TEMPERATURE.
Tasting: Personally, I'd use about two or three grams more bittering hops to bring the IBUs up to 40. None of my friends want me to change anything. I agree that, as a clone recipe, it should remain as close as possible to Anchor Steam so I'll resist my ever-present desire to over-hop.
