Alcohol: 6.0% v/v (4.7% w/w)
Water: the water I chose for this beer comes right out of the ground ,from a spring in beaver valley in south east mn. ice cold and crystal clear.
the water in this region is filtered through the bedrock lime stone and is rich in this mineral.
Grain: 1 lb. Belgian aromatic
1 lb. 8 oz. American crystal 40L
Mash: 70% efficiency
steep 1.25 lb of crystal malt and .5 lb dewolf cosyns belgian malt @ 160' for 60 min. in 1.5gal. then sparge with 1 gal. of 170' water.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.113 2.5 gallons
6 lb. Amber malt extract
add 6lb. of amber malt extract
1.5oz n brewer 55min add 1oz hallertau steep 5 min. then strain into 3 gal. of ice cold water
Hops: 1.5 oz. Northern Brewer (8.5% AA, 55 min.)
1 oz. Hallertauer Mittelfruh (aroma)
Yeast: pitch wyeast california lager yeast @ 78' and aerate well
Log: o.g. 1.050 ferment 1 week @ 65' , rack and ferment 6 days more @ 60'
add 1 cup dry malt x priming and bottle. 2week later ,enjoy!
