7 HCU (~6 SRM)
Bitterness: 16 IBU
OG: 1.055 FG: 1.012
Alcohol: 5.5% v/v (4.3% w/w)
Water: boiled 6 gallons of tap water the day before brewing. this was used to add to the fermenter(s) to bring the batch to a 12 gallon yield. I use (2) 6.5 gallon carboys as my primary fermenters, I rack to (2) five gallon carboys for the secondary ferment.
Grain: 1.5 lb. German Pilsner
1. lb. Dextrine malt (Cara-Pils)
1. lb. Flaked rice
Steep: steep the grains at 155 for 30 min., I used nylon bags, removed prior to starting the boil.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.109 6 gallons
6 lb. Light malt extract
6 lb. Light dry malt extract
2 lb. Rice extract
1 lb. Corn sugar
2 whirlfloc tabs @ last 15min.s of Boil
Hops: 1 oz. Hallertauer Mittelfruh (5% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Hallertauer Mittelfruh (5% AA, 45 min.)
1 oz. Hallertauer Mittelfruh (5% AA, 30 min.)
2 oz. Saaz (3.75% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: WLP800 make 2L starter 2 days prior to boil
Carbonation: .5 cup corn sugar at time of kegging
