41 HCU (~19 SRM)
Bitterness: 11 IBU
OG: 1.071 FG: 1.016
Alcohol: 7.0% v/v (5.5% w/w)
Water: Just used reverse osmosis from local store
Grain: 4 oz. British brown
2 oz. American crystal 90L
9 oz. American crystal 120L
0.5 oz. American chocolate
3 oz. Smoke
1 oz. Belgian Special B
Steep: Steeped grains at 155° for 45 mins. The grain labeled as 90L was actually 80L but couldn't find it on the chart.
Boil: 45 minutes SG 1.177 2 gallons
4 lb. Light malt extract
4 lb. Amber malt extract
1 lb. Honey
Actually added the Kent Goldings in the last 5 minutes of boil
Hops: 2 oz. Fuggles (4.75% AA, 45 min.)
.5 oz. Kent Goldings (aroma)
Yeast: White Labs English Ale Yeast. Added 1/2 packed of Nottingham dry yeast at secondary.
Log: Started batch 1/25/07. Racked to secondary 2/1/07 and added Clover honey. Bottled 2/22/07. Fermentation temps around 62-65° .
Tasting: A big hit with friends. A little overcarbonated (used 3/4c corn sugar). Smokey with some sweetness. Very nice!!
